  • In the auction league I'm winning 8-1 against Teh Sparrowmeister.

I'm not going to talk about the other league.

Asher-- thats a dang fine week you are posting in the auction league. It looks like it would win 6 to 9 categories against pretty much anyone.

The Flub auctions are having a so-so week with narrow leads in a couple of categories. Its a week where I could just as easily win 5-3 or lose 6-2 but I would need to win at least 3 categories to have a chance at remaining in first given the week Asher is having

Why not?? [ Checks stats] C'mon Asher -- your week isn't that bad and enough categories are close that you could easily still salvage things.

My match in the draft league is still close but the one I was really looking at the was the Malicious Pacifists against the Haunted House Boos. Both are within 6 points of the lead but Tingkai and the MP are just having a MONSTER week and four categories look totally won already. The Boos need to rebound in the PP categories and maybe goals to make it close

I am also watching Cronos and the Ice Hawks closely. Take a look at that one as EVERY category looks totally up for grabs. Either one of them could win 7 categories!!

        • I don't think I've ever had 17 assists by Thursday of any given week...

yet where tied. The rest of the team is letting Luongo and Price down! Ovechkin is really underperforming so far this season...

I might get close with PP and maybe goals but my goalies are complete crap. Looks like another year out of the playoffs (in the draft league...)

Yeah, our skaters aren't tearing things up, but there's not many weeks when my goalie stats would only get me 1 of 8 points.

At the risk of giving advice that may prove detremental to myself, you do know that you only need to have three goalie games a week, and can just bench your goalies after that if you want (the same goes for any other players, except for the minimum games part). Like I alluded to above, my goalies have been pretty awesome so far and yet are still behind. I have no choice but to use them to try to catch up, but the odds of my lowering either my GAA or save percentage are pretty low.

                What he said-

The only downside is that you lead in "wins" by one and your opponent has at least two goalie games remaining . Since it is extremely difficult for you to get caught with your current save percentage and GAA ( sv% has to be possible if they face lots of shots- GAA may or may not be possible), you would risk them by playing a goalie. Given your opponent's stellar stats, you could easily trail if your goalie let in a few goals.

THis is always a consideration late in the week . If you lead in wins (by enough that you cannot be caught) GAA and sv% you should pretty much always sit your goalie (sometime if margins are large enough I play my goalie anyway to try for the shutout!!) since all you are giving up is shutout possibilities. If wins are in doubt, its more of a judgement call. I tend to play my keepers on the "no guts no glory" idea but there are times where there is so little to gain that I sit them ( ie wins and shutouts tied and I have narrow lead in GAA and sv%-- do I play Nabby in the late game when all other goalie games are done? All I can gain is one point for a win and possibly but unlikely another for the shutout category -- But I can easily lose 4 points)

I thought these guys couldn't score.

                  • Yep, and boo had Luongo going in that game, so now I've taken 2 of the goalie categories. Should have stayed pat, boo.

Yup-- But this time the Flames did not play that well. It was very unlike their other recent wins in that they did not clearly outplay their opposition. In fact, the Flames were somewhat flat. This victory was mainly due to Kipper

                          • Flames streak ends -- they fell behind 3-0 and then mounted a decent comeback that fell short-- Overall a much better efforst than last night but they fell just short.

Despite the defeat, Kipper looked excellent.

Ther Flames were without Robin Regehr who has a "lower body injury"-- I didn't hear any indications of when he might return

Giordano got a lot more quality minutes and was noticeable for his offensive jump

                            • My Wings are giving up a lot of goals, but they're still winning. I hope they get their defense and goaltending straightened out before the offense hits a slump.
