Some nice stops and the Avs hit the post twice--- Oh ya and the fact that the Avs got 3 shots in the last 29 minutes of the game did make his life easier
You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo
I was worried when I saw I was facing Kipper this week and both he and the Flames are hot at the moment-- That one shutout will likely take that category. It was quite a relief that I saw your other keeper was Kari Lehtonen-- His .774 on the night means I still have a small lead in the other two keeper categories.
Tonight should be pretty uneventful (2 and 1 players respectively) but Thursday is pretty busy across the league

Big night tonight-- Almost everyone will have 8-10 players going.
Plus the Flames face a Bruins team that has consecutive shutouts-- so Both teams are coming off a shutout.
So what do I hope for when facing a pool opponent who has BOTH Iggy and Kipper (Other than a Flames win on a night where both are out with a stomach flu ??)
Well an 8-7 Flames victory with Cammaleri getting 6 points , Iggy scoreless and Kipper only facing 11 shots would be nice--
Seriously though, with Boston being in two consecutive 1-0 games, it would not surprise me if there was a comparative offensive explosion

Yeah, we'll see how long Kari stays in the rotation. Mostly now only because Kipper and Ryan hadn't been playing to top form...

I was actually surprised to see Kari on your list at all when you have Kipper and Ryan-- If Kipper keeps up his good play I could see Kari as a pretty easy drop for you--
All that matters for this week is that the Thrashers poor night counted and gives me a better chance at the sv% category

Do you mean Ryan Miller, not Bobby Ryan I'd hope...

NEW YORK - For the third straight year, the Toronto Maple Leafs are the NHL's most valuable team, worth US$448 million.
The Leafs increased in value by nine per cent and easily were valued ahead of the New York Rangers in Forbes' annual rankings. The Rangers are worth $411 million.
Third on the list were the Montreal Canadiens at $334 million, followed by the Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings ($303 million) and the Philadelphia Flyers ($275 million).
But the biggest increase in value was made by the Pittsburgh Penguins, who made the Stanley Cup finals last spring and boast stars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Pittsburgh is worth $195 million, up a whopping 26 per cent.
The next biggest gainers were the Calgary Flames, up 24 per cent to $203 million, and the Minnesota Wild, who improved 21 per cent and are worth $217 million.
The Vancouver Canucks were valued at $236 million, the Ottawa Senators came in at $207 million, and the Edmonton Oilers were listed at $175 (m) million.
The average team value was $220 million; by comparison, the average for NFL teams this season was $1 billion, according to Forbes.
At the bottom of the list were Columbus ($157 million), the New York Islanders ($154 million), and Phoenix ($142 million). The Coyotes were the only team to go down in worth, by three per cent.
Toronto also led the list with $160 million in revenues, followed by Montreal ($139 million) and the Rangers ($137 million).
Ominously, 12 teams showed a negative operating income, including the Flyers (minus $1.8 million), and Boston Bruins (minus $3 million) - both top 10 franchises in total value.

Flames win their 5th in a row, apparently.
and again are full value for the win and thats what is equally important to me. While its nice to win a game you don't "deserve" (like when the other goalie just sucks), the Flames have been winning games where they outplay the other team by a decent margin-- and even better its not the crap teams. Both Colorado and Boston had winning records and were riding 3 or 4 game winning streaks-- They come to Calgary and the Flames win a close game each time where the Flames clearly outplay their opposition.
As a fan, its what I like to see. I am still not entirely convinced that the defense is as tight as I would wish but the team has clearly dedicated itself to being better in its own zone . . . it shows. The number of guys left all alone in front is way down from those atrocious performances in the first few games.
This streak-- like all streaks, will end. But overall the Flames have looked like a "good' team-- at times like a very very good team. The team we have seen ovber the last few days is not merely an 'eke into the playoffs" team. ONly time will tell if they can consistently play at this high level but I will say this-- I don't think there was ANY point last season where the Flames looked as good as an overall unit as they have looked in the last five games.
So far they have won 5 without Kipper really totally stealing a game AND there has been only one game really where it was an "Iggy carrying the team" kind of night. This has been more of a team effort

Oh and the Dome was fun last night apart from the game.
The mascot, Harvey the Hound was painted green and did a Hulk impersonation. Plus my son enjoyed the intermission thing where they use a giant slingshot (it spans the width of the rink) to hurl people on sleds the length of the ice at giant bowling pins.

Man, boo and I are on a goalie shootout for the week in the auction league. I have 2 wins, a shutout, a 1.27 GAA and a .950 save percentage and am down in three of four categories and tied in shutouts.
