Well probably 4 of them were deserved

Kipper may not be "the problem" but he is also not giving elite level goaltending.

I also watched Toskala totally bamboozle the Rangers last night-- The leafs lost in the shootout but Toskala was amazing. So the Leafs got a point even though they were outplayed by a much wider margin than the Flames last night.

Kipper is paid at a level of a goalie that steals games the team does not deserve to win. He is paid at a level of a goalie that stops ALL the average stuff and also gets a disproportinate number of super difficult stuff too.

I fully agree that the Flames need to tighten up their d. But there in no way Kipper's performance had even reached the 'acceptable " level. He is the highest paid goalie in the league-- FRankly he needs to be better.

Another point-- Iggy has been rather quiet on the scoresheet so far and frankly last night he seemd rather uninvolved. Thie 6 straight shorthanded situations probably had a lot to do with that last night but generally he has not been that great yet either.

Props to the Oilers though. They played way better than they did against Anaheim (where Garon stole a game they deserved to lose ). They limited the Flames chances and their keeper was strong (except for one error on Moss's goal

      • Kipper is the highest paid this year in terms of salary, but he's actually 5th highest in terms of cap hit (5.83). Not that it makes it any better.

        Top 4 are:
        1. Lunqvist (6.875)
        2. Luongo (6.750)
        3. Khabibulin (6.750)
        4. Giguere (6.000)

Turco, Vokoun, and Huet have similar cap hits to Kipper as well (100K or less difference).

Yes, but that's not the point I was contesting. Cap space is more valuable than salary right now, and in that respect Kipper is not the most valuable -- he's merely fifth.

Chicago has two goalies in the top 5 though.

              • Tonight?

Flames dominated first period by an incredible margin-- Oil returned the favor in the second, Pretty even third.

While the loss wasn't Kipper's "fault" -- he did get outgoaltended--

So a team loss . . . THIS Oil team certainly knows how to get results

                • Keenan has until the end of November to get a winning record. If he doesn't, someone by the name of Sutter will be behind the bench.

                  • I hope MacIntyre can stick around long term. I've heard he is focusing on improving his skating. If the coaches work with him perhaps he can have a career for a few years. He's certainly making an impact.

                    • Yeah, he has tremendous talent in that he's a huge guy. He's a poor man's Boogaard. Nothing to brag about.

I am NOT currently the most active manager . In fact, it seems like there is a bit more activity across the board this year. Good to see IMHO

In the draft league it seems like week two made the races much tighter but the Haunted House Boos stood out on the week to take a slight lead.

This is an interesting week in that all 30 teams play on Saturday night and then there are zero games on Sunday ?? I don't remember seeing a gameless Sunday last season.

In the first month or so I'm far more active than usual. I'm trying to snag players that are "breaking out" before someone else does, and ditching underperforming players. It usually stabilizes pretty soon.
