Datsyuk has been a revelation to me. Until this season I had always lumped him in with the likes of Hemsky, Zherdev, Gaborik, Sedins, Naslund, etc as 1-dimensional Euro-soft players.

He's adapted very well to become a legit all-around player.

Malkin is catching a LOT of heat, and rightly so, but how soon we forget that just a couple years ago, Datsyuk would also vanish for long stretches of the playoffs. If Malkin is lucky, it's just a conditioning issue and he's not used to playing into May/June. But if it is just a plain old lack of heart after all, well, shame on him.



Good to see Don Cherry hasn't changed. On SportsCenter, when asked about Datsyuk mixing it up with Roberts, he did his usual faggy European shtick. When it comes to that issue, he lurches into self-parody. It's a shame, because he's very insightful otherwise.

I've heard that Roberts and Cherry are good friends, so take that for what it is and what it is not.

Hossa starts the scoring in game 4 with a very nice stuff in ... first time i've ever seen that work directly (as opposed to generating a rebound), as many times as it's tried...

Well after tonight I have to say Pitts in 7



On a serious note when they had the 5 on 3 and didn't score - that was it! If they score there, that gives them a chance to win the game 3-2 and then it is exactly where it is supposed to be. 2-2 after 4... everyone won at home. Now they have to win 3 in a row and 2 on the road. I guess I've seen more unlikely things in pro sports but not many.

Oh well, it is a nice consolation after the Pistons' loss at home. I was hoping for the first daily double in history (NHL and NBA champs) but I guess I will have to wait another year. To hope at least.

Honestly, I thought Detroit had a decent shot at the tri-fecta, but making a case for the Tigers keeps getting tougher and tougher. They have 3 saving graces left:

1) the divison is totally under performing
2) they are only 2 games behind Cleveland, which I still think is the team to beat (sorry RAH, Ming Snoopy, JR and whoever else I should be apologizing too)
3) they have a GREAT team (on paper)

Actually, the Wings are a decidedly ugly team. Zetterberg is the only remotely cute one, and he still looks weird.
