The more that I think about it, the more that I think Cgy/SJ is closer than most people think.

San Jose only played six playoff-bound teams in thier last quarter of the season. Calgary is 3-1 vs SJ this season. There's a lot of ex-Sharks on the Flames that will be playing extra hard to make the impression that they were wrong in trading them away/not signing them.

I think it should be a gooder.

Do you mean six games against playoff-bound teams? Because once inter-conference play is finished (which I think it has by the last quarter of the season), you can only play a maximum of seven playoff-bound teams.

I would have loved to pick the Bruins, but common sense tells me not to bet against the Habs on a roll going into the playoffs with an emerging goalie against an opponent that can't be favoured.

Re: Stanley Cup Playoff Pick 'Em 2008

Doing this in about 5 minutes when I should be sleeping already, but here goes:

Detroit vs Nashville Detroit - 5
San Jose vs Calgary San Jose - 6
                Minnesota vs ColoradoColorado - 7
Anaheim vs Dallas Anaheim - 6

Montreal vs Boston Montreal - 7
Pittsburgh vs Ottawa Pittsburgh - 5
Washington vs Philadelphia Philadelphia - 7***
New Jersey vs NY Rangers NY Rangers - 6

                Eastern Conference Champions: Pittsburgh**
                Western Conference Champions: Anaheim**
                Stanley Cup Champions: Pittsburgh**

** Last year I predicted Anaheim would beat Pittsburgh in the Finals, this year I am predicting the other way around, lets hope I am more than half right this year

*** I am predicting that Ovechkin won't finish the series, not sure which game they will take him out, but I think Philadelphia was Washington's worst possible opponent. Expect some goonery in this one Once Ovechkin is done, so is Washington, and the goon squad knows this.

If the habs had played anybody else I would have put them through to the conf finals but they got the Bruins and now its payback time for the 2004 playoffs
Payback?! Wtf are you talking about? This is like the 32nd time they play against eachoter in the play-offs...

The National Hockey League has named its 20 referees and linesmen for the upcoming Stanley Cup playoffs.

The list is headlined by veterans Paul Devorski, Kerry Fraser, Don Koharski and Bill McCreary, all of whom have worked more than 1,500 regular season and playoff games.

Among those who will not referee in the post season is Rob Shick, who has also officiated more than 1,500 regular season and playoff games in his 22 years in the league.

Mick McGeough, who announced his retirement this season, will also not work the postseason.

Referees with more than 400 regular season games refereed who were left off the list include Stephane Auger, Brad Meier and Dean Warren.

Mick McGeough, who announced his retirement this season, will also not work the postseason.

Yaaayyyyy--- I am not usually a referee complainer type guy- some bad calls are part of the game etc etc but I am very happy that this spotlight-seeking prima donna is DONE

Oh and I haen't seen a story on this in print but apparently many Flames have gone with playoff hairdos-- According to local radio, a LOT of the players including Jarome are now sporting blond mohawks

I'd be curious to see Owen Nolan with that look-- particularly if he kept his beard undyed

I know they've played eachother a crapload of times but I'm fairly young and the one that stands out in my mind is 2004 when the bruins had a great team and were serious cup contenders. They ran into the underdog habs coached by Claude Julien and blew the series. Since then its been pretty ****ty to be a fan, with the lockout and Jacobs dismantling the team and then the Thornton trade. So it'd be nice for some payback and an added tick to the bruins playoff series win count.

Oh, and Stock Boston loves a scrapper

I'm surprised you aren't more upset about 2002. The Habs had an even worse team that year, and defeated Boston in a 1 vs 8 matchup. Boston was STACKED that year.
