                    It's a bit crazy how physical SJ/Cgy is, the schedulemakers gave them back to back night games...

                      I presume the schedules are defined by the positions (WEST/#2 vs #7 etc.) not by the specific teams, like in other sports, yes?

                        The match ups are, the nights shouldn't be...

                        I presume it has to do with availability of network coverage and building availability.

                        But I just don't see why they have to play back to back games. Play every other night?

                          In most other sports, the nights are set in advance (or, in Baseball, the #1 team gets to choose when it wants the extra day off). In the NBA you end up with really weird timings (like 2 games in a row then 4 days off or something like that) due to the networks, but I don't think the teams themselves are taken into account.

                          The back-to-back days is probably to set games on days better for sports... thursday is a big day, so they probably want to compete with the thursday prime time stuff. (Who televises this anyway - Versus?)

                            Habs and Bruins play back to back Saturday/Sunday. Both at 7:00 PM

                                East coast travel...please.

                                ~300 miles for Bos/Mtl travel
                                ~1600 miles for SJ/Cgy travel...
