  • Point and laugh at Everton too. Last night's game was atrocious. I can barely remember any shots on target before the goal. I know it was a derby match and meant a lot to both teams, but even so:

The commentator on ESPN Latin America kept me mildly entertained by constantly pronouncing Alan Wiley as "Alan Willy".

      • I remember watching the 1997 Charity Shield in France on Canal+. For some reason the commentary went thus:

"Beckham, Keane, Nickybutt, Giggs, Nickybutt, Keane". We couldn't work out why the commentator thought that he only had one name. He's no Brazilian, as any Scum, Birmingham or Toon fan will attest.

        • Well, it seems I made a good choice in mediocre premier league team.

          Go Newcastle.

          ACK!
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust!

          • Howay the Toon!

Unfortunately next season we might be a very strong Championship team instead of a mediocre Premier League team.

            • I dunno, Duke. There's a lot of teams fighting for the bottom three spots.

              • Well we did ourselves a favour today.

Here's hoping Kinnear is all right though.

                • Scolari and TA6 sacked on the same day. Patience runs so thin these days...

                  • I actually feel pretty bad for Donkey Adams...
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

                    • Yes, being pushed out of the door because they lost to the league's (then) top side in the last minute is pretty harsh. As far as Scolari is concerned, I really don't care, although MOBIUS may well should Gorgonzola be hunted down as the new manager. I'd love it, love it, if his comment about being an honourable man was true and he turned them down pointblank.

Adams won 2 of his 16 league games in charge, this just wasn't the right time for him to step up. Pompy need to get an experienced man-manager in there fast.

                        • TBH the both had to go; I think Scolari has shown now that he is not a club manager. Maybe not to within a shadow of a doubt, but it seems that way to me. Adams just should have remembered that you need to work your way up as a manager, and can't just step into the big jobs immediately as a new manager.
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

                          • True re Adams. Except you have to remember he lost 2 of his best players in Diarra and Defoe, and has been pretty unlucky in games such as Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal in recent weeks...

He may not have managed a club for some time, but he was a top club manager. Perhaps he needed more time to adapt to the Premier League, but he definitely needed time and money to create his own team, neither of which he got.

Looks like Hiddink might be going to Chelsea for the remainder of the season. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins them the Champions League.

                              • Failure is often more lucrative than success as a manager though. Scolari probably never needs to work again.
