    • Ok so its Sunday. We've just spent Shabbat with the family, finally went into Manhattan for some fun, and a meal thats not traditional Jewish shabbos food. Ive been resigned to missing the Redskins-Cowboys game completely, and besides, I dont want to jinx the Skins.

We spend the afternoon at the Museum of Natural History, then head to Columbus Avenue for dinner. We decide we all want Japanese if we can find it.

After walking a few blocks up Columbus, we find a nice little spot, clean, not TOO expensive. We go in. Theres a large TV in back. With football on.

I go closer, and miracle of miracles, its the Skins game. And, may the creator be praised, the Skins are winning 22-6.

The game ended shortly thereafter, but I was pleased as I ordered my sushi.

      Hail Redskins!

      • [Lovie]Smith also said that he wants his entire coaching staff to return in 2008 and would like to have every player back as well, though he realizes that some turnover on the roster is inevitable.

i.e., either Smith doesn't see any huge problems with the Bears right now, or he's being diplomatic in front of the media. No mention of the problems with the OL or front D. I think with a re-vamped OL the Bears would get a lot more production from whoever was QB/RB.

Correct answer highlighted. I hope, anyway... he's not that dumb, right? Maybe we can get Mike Martz as OC

3.5 went to Joe Thomas, who deserved better. Far better, I'd say. He wouldn't have won, true, but he was a massive part of Cleveland's reemergence this season.

                • Well, let's be fair. Nothing against Joe Thomas, but I'd say having a good QB made a lot of difference as well. Plus, of course, as a tackle, he's in a stat-free zone. Makes things hard to quantify, especially when your competition leads the NFC in rushing.

Who exactly knew anything about Derek Anderson? I mean, come on, in preseason he DID get beat out by Frye. It was Joe Thomas who really anchored that line. Allowed Anderson to get the time he needed to make throws and allowed Jamal Lewis to have his best year in years.

                        • Why are you trying to make it sound like I'm dissing Joe Thomas, Imran? I'm sure he deserved the votes he got.

But there are 5 guys on the line, and Joe Thomas did not provide that pocket time by himself. The Browns had 3 new O-linemen this year (2 free agents), plus a new O-line coach, after an injury-plagued 2006.

An exceptional O-lineman might get a shot at the ROY award if there's no dominant skill position player.
But Adrian Peterson was dominant and deserved to win the ROY award.

                          Easily.

                          Which he did.

I'd actually take some issue with simply using "exceptional" for Thomas and call him a dominant O-lineman. He may be the best tackle in the game ALREADY.

AP deserved the win sure, but people seem to forget about Thomas (as witnessed by his 3.5 votes).

                              • Depends on my team's needs really.

If I was running the Falcons, I'd take Joe Thomas, easily.
