    • How would you like to be a Dallas fan, rooting for the Eagles. You want to talk about feeling weird?

      • The only thing worse would be rooting for the Redskins... or at least that's my impression of the pecking order.

In 60's and early 70's I was a Cowboys fan, then a Redskins fan...

Still a Skins fan, just am not blinded to the point I cant watch other great teams....

I am impressed with the Cowboys...

Heck, I even am starting to like Jerry Jones a lot more

(Thisa has a lot to do with Slowwhand's proper promotion of da Boyz!!)

          • The Redskins are always the Number 1 enemy. Philadelphia is 2nd. We really don't care about NY.
The Redskins, we hate; and it's reciprocated in full.

            • I admit I was a cowboys fan in the mid 90's. I was on the bandwagon. But then I got pissed they fired Jimmy Johnson and haven't cared for them ever since. The funny thing is I'm not exactly a Jimmy Johnson fan, he wasn't that great a coach. It's just the principle of it. Although that era was the time I first started liking NFL football, so I guess it was natural to gravitate to such a powerhouse team such as the Cowboys. But I like team philosiphies that rely on strong running game.

edit: make that early 90's. My memory is a bit faulty.

              • I didn't like Jimmy Johnson. He did questionable things wherever he went, and left debris behind.
                OSU, Miami and then Dallas.
Actually, I liked Parcells a lot better than anyone since Landry.
Landry is god and Staubach is jesus. Bob Lilly must be john the baptist.

Lets put the blame where it belongs. The blame does not lay with the cable companies, it lies with the NFL. Normally, these game would have been available to 99% of the country. Now, because the NFL wanted more TV revenue, they made their own TV network hoping that cable companies would pay through the nose to get it. The cable companies said no and now the NFL is holding these game hostage under the hopes that the cable companies will fold under the pressure.

                  **** the NFL Network.
                  **** the Big Ten Network.
**** all the other ****ing football league/conferences when they starting holding football games hostage too.

I'm with ya, Gramps. The NFL is asking cable companies to pay more for the NFL Network per subscriber than they pay for CNN! The cable companies are, rightly, saying that while you'll get some great ratings for the Thursday Night games and alright ratings for highlights and preview shows, what about the rest of the year? How many people are really going to be watching the NFL network in May?

They belong on a digital tier so that people who want the channel can pay the high cost. Hell, around here, Comcast also has the NHL and NBA networks on the digital sports tier (which I do subscribe to, though mostly for the soccer channels).

What do you expect the cable companies to do? Especially when the NFL has made their NFL Sunday Ticket an exclusive to Direct TV? Which, btw, is why Direct TV has NFL Network on the basic tier too.

                  • Direct TV has it in Basic. No extra. It is cable.

I havent checked, maybe you or someone else could enlighten me.

I would perhaps pay as much as 15 dollars a month if a so called sports tier where you could NFL,NBA.MLB and NHL Network, plus maybe some various others sports shows, year round

I can see one day a network/specialty provider being top bidder for NFL and then you pay or you dont watch

When I was a kid in Maine in the 1960's and 1970's, we had available on Saturday something like TBN where I could watch Phil Ford and Mitch Kupchak of Carolina, Thompson and Burleson of State, Phill Sellars of Rutgers, Adrian Dantley and Bo Ellis.....

                      UCLA.....

we had 3-4 games every Saturday, no extra cost...

                            • Gramps, it all depends on where you are in the country and your cable provider. I pay an extra $5 a month for Comcast's sports tier and get the NFL Network, NHL Network, NBA Network, Fox Sports Atlantic, Fox Sports Central, Fox Sports Pacific, Fox Soccer Channel, Gol TV, and I believe a Tennis channel and perhaps something else.

                              • **** the patriots. Running up the damn score. Why did they win by 3 win they could have just as easily won by 1 point? They should have went for a field goal and a safety in order to win by 1 point. Getting the touchdown is just running up the score. Who do they think they are?
