AHL- Apolyton Hockey League 07/08: IV The Rookie Menace
I officially give up on Mason now, since it looked like Nashville has. Dan Ellis is outperforming him.
I'm officially in the market for a goalie now, so make your trade proposals now people...

I'm loving the fact that in the past two weeks, Biron has had back-to-back shutouts and Lundqivst has given up a grand total of one (yes one) goal in his last three games. I'm seriously not sure if I had four total shutouts all of last year.

Hmm. Perhaps rumours of Harding taking over for the Wild are premature. Gave up 4 to the Oilers? 9 points for Horcoff-Hemmer-Torres?
I'll take it.
The Oiler D is double-plus good. Rolie was not strong (although he did a bit to steal it in overtime), The forwards had a good game to follow up on the good showing against the Avs. So some signs for hope, but they were playing a team on the back-to-back.

I was going to comment that Fleury's rough night was counter-balanced by the Nashville shutout for you until I found out it wasn't Mason
Oh and $%$#!@$%# maple Leafs-- They actually played pretty well-- interesting that McCabe was out .. . Could they be better without him?
But this night sucked for my team-- I had picked up harding in the hope/expectation that one of the best team's in the NHL could beat the oil-- NOt only do the Oil win but Hemsky gets significant points-- All told a very very good night for the hawkeice-- Briere and lecav were disappointments tonight and I need some big performances to salvage the week

I remove the Preds from my avatar, and they start winning again. It's as if whenever a sports team is in it, they become cursed... I never switched to the Titans this year, and they actually have a winning record.
So, if anyone wants me to curse a team... we'll talk.

Any one game is not determinative of anything. My thinking was always that Backstrom was their guy and Harding was the strong backup-- Both had less than great nights so I don't see than changing any time soon
Now if harding had gotten a shutout tonight management might have had to consider giving him the next start. But as it stands I would think that he'll get a game most week's unless either his performance or Backstrom's dictates something else.
In an 82 game season they are all sorts of results--so I'm not really shocked-- I just wish Harding could have pulled out the win even though his sv% was not so great

since Sparrowhawk has picked up Toskala (probably to try to win the "wins" category)
Beating your five goalies in the wins category will just be a bonus for me this week.
Last year I had Toskala and was frustrated with San Jose who rotated goalies all year without fail. Toskala would get a shutout, back to Nabakov next game. Toskala would have 5 goals against, Nabakov next game. It didn't change until late (?february?) or so, when Toskala got hurt and when he came back they played Nabakov the rest of hte way.
He did well for me last year though, and I thought many times that I wished he played for a team where he got more starts, not sure I wanted that team to be Toronto and the Maple Laughs, but as soon as I saw Tingkai had dropped him I picked him up and hoped no one else would take him.
I am very pleased with my three goalies right now and am not likely to be dropping Toskala anytime soon. Though with Defensemen like McCabe in front of him, that may change

Is anyone here interested in Kopitar - C for a goalie?
4G 8A (12 points in 11 games, next one vs Edmonton...)
Also has 3PPG and 5 PPA

I like Toskala too-- I just don't always like the Leafs defence. My comment that Toskala was "going for wins" was simply because you already led in sv% and , while the Leafs will probably get shutouts along the way (most teams do at SOME point), they are not a big candidate for it when playing Pittsburgh (although they have the Rangers later and they haven't scored much lately)
Oh and now with Toskala your goalies will get more goalie games than mine -- So far my goalies have won 2 of 3 games played - while yours have won 3 of 5 -- well one game was against each other so 1 win out of two "games played" was a certainty)-- Oh and did I mention my goalies have lost all the shootouts they were in this year---
Briere and lecavialier have been a bit disappointing so far this week so just the fact that I am still in a couple of offensive categories is better than I would have hoped. I mean they have a combined minus 6 and 2 assists so its not stellar performance from my top 2 skaters
But tonight will be big-- I have picked up the frustrating Kovalev ( such talent but yet he disappears far too many nights) to take on the Canes -- Brindamour and Ward. Meanwhile Washington takes on Vancouver in what could be a goalie head-to-head. Those games plus Detroit will have a big impact as the Sharks are in Detroit tonight and then Detroit will be in Vancouver on Sunday.
Skaters-- Calgary-Colorado could be a biggie as these teams tend to score a LOT against each other. If that happens there could be a big swing depending on which lines are doing the scoring
Bottom line-- Its Friday of what I knew would be a tough week and lots of categories are still up in the air-- Its probably the most I could have hoped for
Oh and did you catch the plus minus difference-- I am behind FIFTEEN on that one. OUCH

I have a question on trades.
When is the trade effective? Is it the next day like drops and adds?
No, it's 3 days I think -- 2 veto time by the commish, then next day.

So are you accepting/rejecting my trade, Flubbster?

Our league settings are for one day for commish veto, but the Yahoo process is kinda long. Accepting a trade today means the players traded will be available for use on Monday.
Edit: Although it does say a commish can push through a trade at any time during the review process. I don't know if this means the entire process can be sped up or not.
