  • While talking trends, Regarding the flames

-- First win in Dallas in forever
-- First win in Nashville in forever
-- Two wins on the road in a row
-- Got back to .500 for October
-- Had lost two in a row at home

etc etc. -- Now its still early and time will tell how good this year's version is, but it seems that they are NOT pre-destined to follow the patterns of the last two years--Who knew? A new coach, some new players and a new year and it might actually play out differently than last year

I'm actually looking forward to the Flames Avs matchup-- I actually think the Flames could do the unheard of-- and win Three (GASP) games in a row on the road

You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

I dunno. If I went 4-3-1, I might be able to tell you.

      • During the draft, no.

Mason is good, he's had some awful games in a row -- just like Brodeur and Kiprusoff and Luongo.

But Tingkai's draft showed a clear weakness for +/-. It's not a product of players performing poorly to start the season, they're par for the course in +/-.

        • I had a great +/- week one, then one day ruined my +/- week two ... that stat is darned annoying

How several of my players (forwards) could have been on teams that won their games by large margins but were -2 I have no idea...

ooops-- my fault-- I forget which team belongs to who sometimes

I see now that you had the joy of winning the "Battle of the Pants" to give Asher an 0-6-2 - ( which must have been really satisfying )

So you were the winner of week 2!! Congratulations!!

Oh I see something has to give-- You and your 10-3-3 record takes on the Bowties with an identical record

I believe Mason is better than what his last couple of games have shown, but overall I have serious doubts as to the Nashville team.

Oh and all of the supposed big three have not had stellar starts-- I do expect they will be there in the long run though

              Got ya

Plus/minus is a weird stat though since it seems our average plus/minus as a group might even be negative. You would think that the drafted players might exhibit a slight plus on average

I have witnessed the same thing-- I was way behind in plus minus most of the week and then I went from behind be 3 to up by 5 in a couple of hours. "Meaningless" last goals and empty-netters can drive you nuts on this stat

I don't get what you're trying to do here. I take it you've seen precisely zero Minnie games in recent years (because who would subject themselves to those unless you had a team in their division?).

Harding is simply more noticable when he's in net. His reaction times seem to be a bit better, he seems to have less scrambling-saves than Backstrom. He also catches with his right hand, which seems to catch a lot of skaters off-guard.

I think both Backstrom and Harding are good goaltenders, but I think Harding can be a bonafide #1 while Backstrom is probably #1A at best.

Yes, you also claimed you drafted a "balanced" team. Funny how your record for +/- is the same as mine: 0-2-0.

Oh, and your strategy contains a fatal error which is way you have a losing record, and I don't.

Ah, spoken like someone who doesn't understand what it takes to be a great goalie.

I love the bit about you can tell Harding's reaction time is better than Backstrom's.

Oh and your comment about right-handed catcher, a classic.

And the guy you say doesn't have what it takes to be starter, has a great record in 40 games last year, two SO in four games this year. Whether he'll become a legendary goalie is too early to say, but he's doing all the right things right now.

Yup, the guy you called a risky pick is proving a smart choice.

Last week was brutal for me.

What are the chances of Mason having ~70% svp for 3 games in a row? And Crosby being in a slump. etc.

                          • Mason has nothing to do with your +/-.

You can tell these things when you actually watch hockey games, Tingkai. For instance, a quick wrister and a great goaltender snatches it right out of the air. A 'tender with a slower reaction time will have it go in. From what I have seen, Harding has the better reaction times.

And the guy you say doesn't have what it takes to be starter, has a great record in 40 games last year, two SO in four games this year. Whether he'll become a legendary goalie is too early to say, but he's doing all the right things right now.

The guy I called risky is going to sit on the bench more than any other "#1 goalie". You used it early in the 2nd round, which is basically the same as drafting someone who will only play half the games. That's what you're risking.

It's risky, any way you want to spin it. Again, Backstrom is good, but he's not going to be a workhorse like Brodeur, Luongo, and Kiprusoff...starts matter in fantasy leagues.

Please focus. Your comment was on your "winning record", so in this case the entire team matters.
