It only applies to people on your roster if you want to get them into the immediately upcoming game. You can drop and pick up players at any time any day, but there will always be the next day lag for these transactions.

Dang I had visions of getting 4 goalie games in one day I figured that that would be too good to be true. With tow eastern goalies and a west coast one though it would be pretty sweet to play all three in a day

Nope, the start of the particular NHL game the player in that roster spot is due to play at. So if your C player begins at 7:00EST, it locks probably at 6:55EST. If your LW player begins at 8:00EST, it locks that spot at probably 7:55EST.

That of course leads to interesting things like:

I have one goalie going at 6:00 EST and another at 9:00 EST. I have a small lead in GA but am tied in wins; it's the last day, and my second goalie is against the Flames and isn't that good anyhow; and my opp is done with goalie stats.

I put in the early goalie, then at 8pm EST I come to the page and see how things are going. If he's winning, and hasn't hurt my GAA to the point of causing me to be losing, then I leave out the 9pm goalie (and have only one goalie that day). If he's losing and/or hurt my GAA to the point of causing me to be losing that stat, I start my 9pm goalie as my second goalie

It's a lot of fun with Football when you have a monday night player... not as much chance of a negative, but I've had times before when leading by 1 pt I took out the other player, just in case... and once it actually saved me the week

If you want my advice, play all your players against the Flames for the first month. They'll win maybe one game.

They always suck the first month. The pre-season displayed that admirably as well.

Kiprusoff and Iginla are also notorious slow starters.

It's usually awesome because you can swindle people into trading them early in the season.

Thanks -- good to know-- So if I hear Emery is starting instead of Gerber, I can switch them as long as I do it 5 minutes before gametime-- I can see I will have to be paying attention to Ottawa radio to hear the planned starter

A good place to check for starters is Hockey Informer.com. They usually run about a 90-95% accuracy rate.

The Flames slow starts the last few years seem to be a pattern . Last year ,the Flames were also awesome at home and downright awful on the road.

In the pre-season, I thought Kipper was pretty good. He was AMAZING in the shootout win. Overall I thought it was a lack of offense most nights. Although the Flames have arguably upgraded their 3rd and 4th lines a little, I am still wondering if scoring from those lines will materialize

What's interesting to me is Keenan's commitment to Lombardi. I was worried he'd hate the kid, but he said Lombo will be on the top two lines -- even if it means playing wing.

Given his preformance at the worlds last year, Keenan may want to ensure he gives Lombo every opportunity to soar.

Plus he is an obvious choice

Who else is obvious that they should be on the top two lines

Conroy? ( looked old and slow late last year ) Moss? ( good performer at times) Nolan? (it could happen)

I just don't see Godard, Primeau, Yelle or NIlson as contenders for the top two lines and I don't know this Mark Smith

Moss - Boyd - Nolan (aux. scoring -- Moss and Boyd are young, Nolan brings experience)

Defensive pairings:
Regehr - Aucoin
Phaneuf - Sarich
Eriksson - Warrener

While I also liked Boyd at times last season, it appears he is starting the year in Quad City while folks like Mark Smith and Warren Peters are sticking around

I sorta like your idea of Mossy on line 3 but I don't know that I love Conroy sticking in the top two lines. I think his glory years are behind him . He could surprise but I saw being increasingly ineffective last year as the year wore on
