  • Fantasy Football question (s)

I have been playing several years, over at Yahoo with my family and a few close friends.

We usually go with 10 teams.

This year we added an extra dimension, a "D" player which goes along with our team defense.

I picked one and the draft ignored and gave me a nobody, and then I did some free agent search.

I was wondering, is it better to have a DB or DL?

Both give strong compelling reasons, I was looking for some experienced help though..

we just held our draft day before yesterday.

I will post the settings (Scoring next post and also my roster)

Let me know if I should change my D pick or is this a good choice

Overall, a LB is the safest pick.
High tackle totals, sacks, fumble recoveries and even INT's are a possibility.

Ryans is a LB, though, so that's a very good pick. I assume that's the one you picked up?

            Yes

I am pulled between Champ Bailey and either Julius Peppers of Carloina or Brian Urlecher of da Bears

            Any input?

Neither had as many fan points last year, kinda toying with one of them big boys

            Please, input

I'd go with Urlacher. He'd get a good number of tackles. Bailey is a great player, but he won't get the tackles to equal with Urlacher (even with the ints), IIRC.

I took Peppers in one of the leagues here. He's only begun to bloom.

I looked at the scoring, and almost based on this variable, it's a clear-cut win for LB: "Tackle Solo (2)"

That's huge. You're pretty much better off with a linebacker than anything else (unless it's a very hard-hitting safety). Go w/ Urlacher. Also keep an eye out for other options, e.g. Keith Bulluck, Mike Peterson, London Fletcher, Ray Lewis, Keith Brooking, Will Witherspoon, and probably some others that I forget... these guys are capable of recording at least 90 solo tackles over the season.

Urlacher or Peppers or Ray Lewis?

                    any other views?

Urlacher > Lewis, more because Urlacher is more durable, while Lewis' health can play up.

Definitely not Peppers, only because he only makes 50 tackles a year or so...

So I keep Ryans and add Urlacher and drop Champ Bailey?

                        Thanks for the advice

Yep, Ryans and Urlacher would be a great tandem.

Urlacher is a good pick, but I'd probably go with the bill's return man (forget his name off the top of my head, but he's Terrence something, DB-BUF). He scores a TON of points on returns, and your formula is very friendly to returns.

One good idea: go into yahoo, into the pickup players screen, and choose the filter "Remaining Games (proj.)" . Then click go. Then go to the right side and sort by Fantasy Points.

That'll tell you Yahoo's projections for how many points each player will score this year. You can also see last year's actuals by filter "2006 (all)" or something like that (default, actually), and then sorting by fantasy points. My bet is the Bills CB will be near or at the top of your list for both...
