The punch on Lebda was way worse than what Tootoo did.

    Tootoo got 5 games.

Obviously, it wasn't way worse by people who know way more than you do...particularly the victims of the punches.

    1/10.

Langkow hit a player on the ice.

      Tell me which is worse.

      • Even Jerome admits they were looking for trouble.

"It was really about getting some fights going at that point to keep our energy up and carry some anger into the next game," Iginla said with several new stitches over his left eye. "We're not going away."

Point is you don't look for trouble by swinging sticks, hitting players who are down, and delivering butt-ends.... unless you're a bunch of losers who don't deserve to be in any round, let alone the second.

You want to start a fight, start a fight. take the consequences. Resorting to fouls that can and will injure is a chicken-**** way to start a fight.

Clearly the first, because the velocity is many times faster.

          • I'm very disappointed in Iginla.

I thought the guy had guts and class. Delivering a butt-end to start a fight is gutless and classless.

I have to assume he has been infected by his surroundings.

Spell his name right, and we can talk.

I wasn't impressed with the actions in the late game, so why troll with it?

The whole point is Detroit's been doing their fair share of crosschecking, elbows to the face, submarining, running Kiprusoff, etc that they can't take that position of holier-than-thou.

Neither can Edmonton, or Vancouver for that matter. Most teams can't, except for ones with no heart.

                Detroit is a scary place.

For what it's worth, much of the blame for the events falls on the Detroit players for pussying out of fights.

Least amount of fighting majors in the league, IIRC. Show some heart!

                • Why assume this is about you?

This is a discussion about hockey.

It just happens that the team you support has been shown to be a gang of thugs with no class whose exit from the playoffs at as early a date as possible should be celebrated.

But sorry for switching a letter in his name. I'm sure that's the serious issue that warrants discussion.

                    Yes, I see.

You won't fight? That makes it OK to swing sticks at you, butt-end you, and throw uppercuts when you are on the ice.

Pay attention, pupils, this is Calgary 101.

Really, nye, you're going to have to try a lot harder than that to make people forget about the riots, stabbings, and arson that goes hand in hand with the Whyte Avenue celebrations, the Torres hit on Michalek last year, or Messier's legacy as a "goon" as well.

I appreciate the effort on your behalf, it is comforting to know we both do not condone the actions at the end of the game last night, but only you are dumb enough to use the actions of a few athletes, both born in Edmonton as luck would have it, and use it to paint a picture of Calgary.

Jamie McLennan: Born in Edmonton, Alberta
Jarome Iginla: Born in Edmonton, Alberta
Daymond Langkow: Born in Edmonton, Alberta

All of which grew up watching the Oilers, which is presumably where they learned that behaviour.

Good on you, ace. Go Oilers!

BTW, were there ever any good players who came from Calgary?

Dany Heatley off the top of my head.

Edmonton has a lot more due to the Oilers dynasty in the 80s spurring a ton of local hockey kids to start playing.

Another nice dodge, BTW. That's always been an impressive trait of Edmontonians...the inherent squiriminess that comes from being in the proximity of so many politicians.

West Germany. He had enough character to fight off the infection.

Are you seriously suggesting that a team winning is required for Canadian kids to want to play hockey?

See, this may be the problem with the Flames and people from Calgary.

You assume that everyone has to play on your terms.

Are you seriously oblivious to the effects a dynasty has on the population? Even TB and Carolina had skyrocketing hockey signups among kids after their cups. Imagine the effect a real dynasty has.

Do you seriously think there's something inherently superior about Edmonton that produces hockey players? It's all about the volume of kids playing, and a hugely successful local team leads to burgeoning amounts of kids playing hockey to emulate their heroes.
