Do you really think it has to do with your special teams being good, or the team that can't win on the road to save its life being mind-numbingly awful?

You give Detroit too much credit here -- today's game is all road-Flames after the 1st period. I've seen 43 games of these this year, it's par for the course.

Powerhouses like Columbus win more decisive games against the road flames than this, so don't be too proud.

    • Flubber, comments on tonights game? I think you should look at the shift chart before you deflect blame away from Playfair.

Look at Amonte and Zyuzin's powerplay time in particular.

        Whatever you say, sweetheart.

What's happening today has absolutely nothing to do with skill. If you think the Flames are playing with skill today, well...let's leave it at that.

Ummm... they're getting outskilled, obviously. They're also getting outhit and outhustled, which is typically more important. But outskilled nonetheless.

I'm talking more of the Detroit PK; even in games 1 and 2, the Flames were nigh-unstoppable on the PP. But the Wings have stepped it up today.

Did you type that as they gave up 2 awful shorthanded chances?

You aren't watching the game closely if you think Detroit is a far more talented team than Calgary.

Do you think the team Calgary is icing today has anything in common skill-wise to the ones in Calgary the other day?

            • Read a little more carefully, mon ami. The Wings penalty kill looks reborn.

Here I thought special teams, in general, referred to both situations of odd-men.

Yes, the PK has been better, but Calgary's PP has been MUCH much, worse. And that had little to do with the PK, they just can't connect passes.

                  • For example, did you see Phaneuf's play just there on the PP? Nothing to do with the PK.

Since they are identical players 2 days later I would say that the skills (ie talent level) are identical

Clearly all that wall-smacking is taking its toll.

Some days it doesn't show due to other factors, which is why it's not possible to rule based on one game.

Detroit is totally outplaying Calgary today, but it has little to do with skill.

I clarified that I was refering to the PK, then you made a comment about the PP. Pay attention.

Honestly, I don't get it. Why so defensive about the Wings being more skilled? Clearly it doesn't mean they win all the time. On most nights, Calgary will outwork and outhustle them, and that's why they are so evenly matched.
