    I'll do a homer pick, then. It's not likely but it makes me feel better.

    1st round
    Detroit vs Calgary: Calgary 4-3
    Anaheim vs Minnesota: Anaheim 4-3
    Vancouver vs Dallas: Dallas 4-3
    Nashville vs San Jose: Nashville 4-1

    Buffalo vs NY Islanders: Buffalo 4-1
    New Jersey vs Tampa Bay: New Jersey 4-2
    Atlanta vs NY Rangers: NY Rangers 4-2
    Ottawa vs Pittsburgh: Pittsburgh 4-1

    Eastern Conference Champions: Buffalo
    Western Conference Champions: Calgary
    Stanley Cup Champions: Calgary

        There are intangibles in the Anaheim pick: Giguere's first newborn child, just born the other week, is ill. He may be mentally not ready for the playoffs.

          Lets give this a shot-- MY Calgary pick is pure homerism and fandom. This Flames team has underperformed much of he year and have generally been so inconsistent that I don't know what to think any more. Can they beat Detroit . .. sure. The other element is recent Detroit "choker' label-- However that could now act as a motivator for them

          So I am picking "upsets" in 3 of the 4 western series. All I can say based on previous years is who the heck knows-- I mean last year Carolina and Edmonton ???

                You have to pick Calgary. I think it's in the Official NHL Rules under the Fans Must be Loyal or The Franchise Will Move section.

                      well -- that was the main part of the pick. If Calgary had been at all consistent this year I would have no hesitation to pick them.

                      Detroit for me is the easiest of the top teams to pick against . While very good this year, they are old and they have a recent history of playoff crapouts
