How can Polanco have a .386 Batting Ave and a .378 OBP? He has 0 BB's, but still I never thought OBP could be lower than Batting Ave.

OBP also takes sac flies into account:

OBP = (H + BB + HBP) / (AB + BB + HBP + SF)



By the by, I'm still open to any and all trade discussion in both leagues. I love trades.

So an SF counts as an out in OBP but not Batting Average. Doesn't really make sense to me but who am I to say.

Why doesn't it make sense? If you sacrifice, you don't get On Base, which is what OBP is supposed to measure . Doesn't matter if it is for a good reason or not.

You could make the same argument for Batting Average, which is a measure of hits per AB's.

Batting Average does measure how many hits you get per at bat. I'm not sure what that has to do with anything though.
