  • Chicago is just waiting for draft day, to bleed every drop of deal.

    • God, I hope so.

      • Some teams seem to be coming out of the woodwork looking to trade up -- Denver talking intensely to Detroit, Tampa talking to Oakland.

        Both want Calvin Johnson.

So maybe those top picks have some value for an off-the-charts guy like him. Draft day should be interesting.

The #4 pick would be loverly, but unlikely they'd take it (already turned down #6 after all). But would we take Round2/#4 perhaps (straight up)? Cheaper pick, but still a solid player...
Those are almost certainly Rosenhaus-planted web rumors, nothing more.

GM Jerry Angelo said yesterday that he has not received ANY phone calls from ANY team regarding Lance Briggs since the proposed Washington deal.

But it does look like there will be some maneuvering for Calvin Johnson, with the trade of Trent Green to Miami as the possible trigger point for a domino effect of several trades. Which would be fun to watch...

Actually, I read somewhere that teams that have tagged a player as franchise can't actively pursue trades for that player. Other teams have to initiate the trade proposals.

            • That's correct, and that's fine. Spurn the suitors for now.

              • I sincerely doubt the Bears will do anything with Briggs between now and the end of the draft.

I do expect a flurry of trades among several other teams on Saturday, however.

                • With the drafting of Stanford's Michael Okwo, a Tampa-2 Will LB -- in round 3, no less -- the Bears have thrown down the gauntlet.

The also have Jamar Williams, a 2006 4th rounder who got injured in camp.

Briggs and Rosenhaus are all in.
                  Jerry Angelo has called.

                  Back to you, Drew...
