The Pens are looking very good. This is going to be a fun team to watch for years to come.
In the strange night category, the Preds have an embarassing hiccup vs the Blues and the Blue Jackets shutout the Sharks. It's not even the 13th.(\__/)

Too bad. I think they actually deserved a better fate tonightYou don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

Hockey can be funny. The Flames got a 0-0 result out of the first period when they were slightly the better team. Now they lead 3-2 after a period where they got outplayed a bit.
Budaj isn't terrible or anything but nor is he a top #1 type goalie right now. With better goaltending this Colorado team would be extremely dangerous. You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

I want the Habs to win, but I don't think they have what it takes now.Resident Filipina Lady Boy Expert.

I'm guessing that if Gainey bailed on the season in Dallas (not that I remember him doing that) and traded all the UFA's before the trade deadline he would make it into the sports section and a few people might read it.
If he did the same thing in Montreal it might well start the next riot from the faithful (despite it being a smart decision).

But if the team continues to slide , it is possible they could be a seller

Isn't the trade deadline on the 27th?? If Montreal turns things around, they are very much in the fight at that time and the games on the 24th and 26th could allow thme to get back in the playoffs
and Ninot? I am surprised at your defeatism. It was only a short time ago you were telling me how "elite " they were. I didn't think the Habs were as good as their record earlier. Now I don't think they are as bad as their recent record despite Huet's injuryYou don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

By the way, nye, let's revisit your comment on MA Bergeron "killing us" in the future.
He got traded away for scraps today.
NAPLES, Fla. (CP) - The Edmonton Oilers have made a move, but it's not one that will help with the playoff push this season.
The Oilers swapped defencemen with the New York Islanders on Sunday, sending Marc-Andre Bergeron to Long Island for Denis Grebeshkov.
Grebeshkov was a first-round draft pick in 2002 and has played 33 NHL games, but is spending this season with Yaroslavl Lokomotiv in the Russian league.
The 23-year-old is expected to remain in Russia this season. He'll be a restricted free agent this summer.

"We see the upside in the player we're acquiring,'' Oilers GM Kevin Lowe said. "We see this as a long-term upgrade.''
Bergeron had spent his entire NHL career in Edmonton. He had 33 goals and 88 points in 189 games.
The Oilers and Islanders are each currently outside of the playoff picture in their respective conferences.
Looks like Edmonton is a bunch of sellers this year."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Call it defeatism, if you will, but we have three defensemen that will be UFAs next year. Considering we are outside the playoffs looking in, and I don't think we have a team to beat Buffalo or NJ, I'd rather take our chances on next year.

Either way I think it's a long shot that this trade looks good for Lowe from a POV 3 or 4 years from now.
Heck, even now Lowe just traded a defenceman in the top 30 in goals for a guy who isn't willing to play AHL to learn the ropes in North America... so it isn't looking too good right now, unless the Oilers know they can get the guy over here.(\__/)
