Not that I give a toss about the England team.
I'm increasingly of this opinion too. There are so many players I dislike at club level it's hard to suddenly rally round them. Especially when they are sh*t.
Maybe if Arsenal occasionally fielded a single English player you might get someone you liked in the squad.

What, like Cashley '£55,000 a week is an insult' Hole, who fecks off from the club he loved for the gangster's rouble? Or Jermaine car-crash Pennant? Or Sulzeer 'I wanna play abroad' Campbell?
Then there's Theo "No right to be there" Walcott. That's no right according to those absolute prime retrograde scumbag cvnts Gerrard and Lumplard? What pond-life those two are. Creaming absolute fortunes, playing like uncoordinated nine-year olds in the WC and then blaming the kid Theo for their own miserable failure. Fvcking trash, the pair of them.
English players are predominantly under-skilled, over-hyped, over-paid, and in Phat Phw.anks case, over-weight. Only criminal mafia outfits like CSKA Kings Road can afford to pay their extortionate demands.
Maybe if the England players didn't make such a collective disgrace of themselves in the international arena, and then refuse to take the blame, it might be easier to like them.
Apparently part of the reason Ashley and Sol left was the fact that they wanted to go to an English club with an English atmosphere, can't really blame them.
Lampard and Gerrard are exceptional players, as is Rooney. Their club form over the last few years has been as consistently exceptional almost to the level of Henry's. As for the world cup, all the players who play in England suffered. Gerrard's season started incredibly early with the Champions League qualifiers and both he and Lampard played over 50 club games for their sides last year, it's no wonder they were knackered along with most of the rest of the side! That combined with an incredibly incompetent manager who only picked one fit forward, who was a big lanky freak explains the world cup debacle. Oh, and we should remember that despite how **** they were they made the quarter finals undefeated and only conceded 2 goals, going out on penalties (again). Brazil were even more disappointing!
You've totally made up that Gerrard and Lampard blame Theo for the World Cup mess, if you can find a single quote where either Gerrard or Lampard blame Theo for the world cup debacle I'll give you £20. This doesn't include blaming the management for picking him.
Jens Lehman must be one of the most hated men in football, easiest to despise keeper since Schmeichel.
Fair play to Ashley for wanting to better himself at a decent club. :b

Lampard was and is more consistant than Henry.
Playing 164 consecutive premier league games isnt bad for an overweight scumbag...

I've read the book, Gerrards problem was with Sven taking Walcott. He didn't blame Walcott for Englands woes.
Exactly.

Well, if Gerrard wanted to blame Sven, he and his editors worded it badly in the book, imo. The words "He had no right to be there" were poorly chosen. I was letting off steam earlier when I abused Gerrard & Lampard - still in 'curse cashley' mode when Mike did his Alan Pardew impersonation, and I will defend Wenger to the hilt.
I thought this quote from Gerrard's book was apt :
"We were not as good as we thought we were. England were guilty of over-confidence. Me and the other players placed too much pressure on ourselves by constantly claiming we could win the World Cup.
"Stupid. We talked ourselves up too much. Never again. In future tournaments we must learn to be humble."
Knowing the generally terrible quality of the BBC sport site these days, I'd blame the reporters for cherry picking sensational sounding sentence fragments out of context. I'd have to see the full sentence in the original context. But even so I don't see how that can be blaming Theo really.
Anyway, Gerrard seems like a pretty good guy as footballers go. Fairly down to earth and straight talking. Better than most anyway. Lampard too.
The "maybe if arsenal occasionally fielded an english player" was meant as a light hearted bit of banter really. I don't care what nationality the players that clubs field are.

I admit I'm tetchy about the English question at THOF. I really need to stop biting. Cashley was such a brilliant player for us, too. :sob:
I wonder, though, what Michael Ballack thought of all the kraut-bashing that was directed against Mad Jens on Sunday. Possibly even from Frank 'nice guy' Lampard himself. Despite the pantomime falling-over routine, Jens was full of praise for Drogba as a bloke.
It's always good to have a local hero though. Someone who cares about the club to the extent that they'd turn down the chance of a move to Scumchester, guaranteed silverware and European competition every season.
