Meh, it might look spectacular but it was dumb luck. We had one of those in the Dutch Premier League last year, and I can remember a few more like that from the more distant past: a guy doesn't have anything else to do with the ball and no time to think, so he just randomly kicks it in the general direction of the goal in a reflex -- it's sheer luck it's even on target, 999 out of a 1000 it isn't (and even if it is the goalie usually has plenty of time to catch it). A goal like that is bound to happen a couple of times a season around the world...

This one is much more impressive (also from last season's Dutch league): Cocu has the ball dead at his foot and all the time in the world to think about what he's going to do, then he very deliberately decides to shoot at the goal:

Taylor isnt completely useless in front of goal even though hes a defender. You can tell by the technique he knows what hes doing. I'd say it was half luck, half timing.

Otherwise half the screamers scored are dumb luck too.

Yes, he has done this before, and other similar strikes from far out, so I don't think it was all fluke, but it was definitely partly fluke. He admitted in a radio interview that he didn't even bother to check where the keeper was when he hit the shot.

Showing disrespect to an oppenent before a game can get their backs up a tad and motivate them. I agree with Duke though, it's probably academic in this case.

And do you call that 'abuse'? P1ss poor show from the Gooners, Gary Neville gets 10 times worse than that every season when Liverpool play at Old Trafford.
