Hopefully you can get something out of this one. I know Spurs aren't the only team to have had a bad start, but unlike other stutterers like Arsenal and Liverpool they're not even playing well yet. They're missing Carrick, their new signings are crocked, and Lennon's out now too.

      • Well I don't have a great deal to do on Sunday afternoon. Anyone know Glenn Roeder's number?

A great start with a point out of the ManU game!!!

I don't think anyone really expected it, and the gulf in quality between the sides was obvious, Reading battled brilliantly to hold on for a point but on another day some of the ManU chances would have gone in and we'd have lost by 2 or 3. No complaints though.

Man U are looking the weakest of the big 4 teams. Reading should do OK against West Ham and Spurs aren't looking as good as last season but you should worry about the rest of the games you listed.

            • Any points against the top 4 are a bonus really... as they say it's results against the other relegation candidates that keep you up and there is a lot of truth in that. 10 points at this stage is a lot more than I thought we'd have.

I don't agree that ManU look the weakest of the top 4, and I don't think their results support that either. I don't think there's a great deal between any of the top 4 really.

              • I think Newcastle would be well served playing Rossi more. In his 10 or so minutes of action at the end of the Everton match, he was absolutely wonderful. Ameobi went off with an injury, so maybe Rossi will get some more time. I'd rather have him in than Sibierski (though Sibierski has been far better than I thought he would be).

                  • Have there been calls for Sven to come back yet?

                    • Well, there's this from a Guardian blog:

Latest news, sport, business, comment, analysis and reviews from the Guardian, the world's leading liberal voice

The formation will inevitably dominate the criticism of McClaren, but the fundamental point remains: England are not actually that good. It was obvious that, deep down, Eriksson did not trust his players to outplay good teams, which was why he tried to win tournaments through the back door. For that lack of faith he was criticised furiously. But maybe he was right after all.

                      • Seriously now, the result against Macedonia at home is something to be annoyed about. But when it comes to Croatia away it's just a very, very difficult game. Look at their statistics at home....

They are a team with little problem against technical and pacey sides, very tactically astute and skilled. Don't sweat it England you will still qualify, as long as you don't lose both games against Russia.

If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

                        • Here's Robinson :

“It was an absolute freak and there was nothing I could do about it,” he said. “It was a routine clearance but there was a huge hole in the pitch where the Croatian goalkeeper had been placing the ball.”

So if he knew the hole was there, why did he let the ball run over it? Spud muppet. Still, at least the Sperz'll have to stop chirping about Seaman's fluff against Brazil now.

Not that it made any difference, mind. England got nowhere near the Croatian goal the whole game. The good thing is that now almost everybody in the country has woken up to the fact that the players are over-rated, over-hyped and over paid.

Some of the fan reaction is funny - "Bring back Sven, Bring back Beckham, Bring back David James, Bring on Walcott."

Bias aside, they've been going better in Europe than in the Premier League, where they've been abysmal so far. According to some of their deluded fans, they've already won the UEFA cup this season, so I'm eagerly waiting for someone to teach them a lesson.

                                Go Club Brugge!
