We were constantly criticized for allowing that to continue. They are big boys and could handle it (evidenced by their keeping coming back for more knowing it was coming) And it had great entertainment value for the rest of us. (except for the facists that have since left)

yeah probably.
But considering how much abuse Ming and I have take over the years (ming much more than I) we're not totally immune to it and a sometimes it's nice to hear something else. (no I haven't gone soft, but recognizing that even the beast can appreciate the human touch)

That's appreciated but it eventually contributed to the "crisis". When we because "owners" (in name only) we had more input into those "rules". Anyone that remembers when that happened that Ming and I intentionally loosened up the OT. This has been blamed for the downfall of this site (we will just ignore the lack of content, site issues, and no new civ games that is worth playing, even thought there are probably about 5 people left playing Col.) Which is why the new owners belief that a vibrant OT is critical to overall success of the site pleases me and if they require help in the future, I would consider it.

And if I remember the timing right there was the fact that there's a natural cycle after every major release and all the traffic due to Civ 4 was dying down a bit after the peak.
