Math types will say "It's true, because 1-0.9999... = 0" which is correct for their way of thinking. For liberal arts types, the name of the item is as important as the contents of it; and 1 and 0.999... are named in a much different manners, and to them that's important.To me I don't care ... I have no use for 0.999... thus it matters not to me what it is or isn't
