I'm genuinely curious about WTF you're talking about, but sure, because I didn't fulfill your imagined reaction then I'm attacking you and I'm just like trump. lol

I think this has something to do with Bill Maher ranting about Mamdani on his show again

I mean you seem particularly angry. Losing bad people isn't a bad thing. I won't wish for their death but, you know, I won't mourn their passing either. To quote Voltaire "To the living we owe respect, but to the dead we owe only the truth".

Sorry but this is a little bit beyond a "difference of opinion" with these people. These people have put Trump in power and you know more than most the consequences of that. It's not a blip, the consequences of this are still building. The utter betrayal of now former allies and the constant economic warfare. And then the literal warfare. This whole Iran debacle is estimated to have cost the global economy $2.2 trillion. The UN puts the projected risk of starvation at 45 million people across the world.

I'm sure from within your US bubble this may look like a bit of a "political blip" that can be resolved but for the rest of the world you're going to be viewed similarly to Nazi Germany post WWII.

              So again, no.

Yeah man, all true. But, and this is also true, your inability to just ****ing say nothing on a forum where a bunch of people had decades-long friendships with the person you're speaking ill of does not in any way combat fascism; it just makes you a giant dildo.

Dude, even that doesn't really capture it. The shocking scale of depravity of the MAGA movement has literally reset the bar by such a degree that even the Nazi's formerly unsurpassed depths of atrocity will finally seem to have become tame in comparison.

Again, you are resorting to insults rather than look at the facts. I've clearly stated my view on this situation and you have resorted to personal attacks on multiple occasions. It's not a good look mate. Besides, why should I stay quiet, I've seen this situation building for the quarter of a century I've been here and have been quite emphatic about it. And here we are.

And now we get MWHC spouting something about socialism, a concept he doesn't even remotely understand. Can't see beyond his blinkered, sheltered US privileged vision of how the world works. And it has all the usual hallmarks of cognitive decline from someone who never properly maintained their mind, brimming with Dunning-Kruger-esque confidence in their insights and opinions. If it is OK for this crap to be posted here, it is absolutely OK for me to post my opinion about the pernicious threat these people are to the fabric of our society and how their loss isn't necessarily a bad thing. I've seen this in my own family and I won't tolerate it there, so I'm damn not going to tolerate it anywhere else.

Why just the other day in a shop I had one of these types of reprobates come up to my face and ask in an aggressive manner "and where are you from?" because I don't look like their perceived stereotype of White British. Then move on to an Indian lady and her child with abuse. I have almost black hair and a black beard and tan darkly in the sun we have in this part of the country. And it is not the first time I hve been the recipient of misdirected racism. I see the same traits in the people I have referenced. So remind me, why should I shed the slightest tear when they reach the end of their life? And trust me, when the orange one goes, it's f**king party time.

Sorry if you don't like it but that's not really a me problem is it?

Thankyou Geronimo. I don't think we ever will get a full grip on it until afterwards. I can just see the patterns that are forming. But I can't be kind to people who, given the option, would throw me in a concentration camp. Hyperbolic? Perhaps. But I bet that was also the response to similar comments in the 1930s and we now have the benefit of the lessons of history.

...I'm very confident Geronimo is being sarcastic.

Anyway, I'm not asking you to be nice to Sloww; I'm asking you to be respectful to the people here who cared about him, and if that's not possible, to be quiet. You say you don't put up with this in your own family, but my guess is that, like, if you had a dead grandmother who, say, didn't have the most enlightened attitude toward gay people, you wouldn't appreciate it if every time Kid or MWHC popped up and started bashing gays, I ragged on your grandmother. It wouldn't help anything. It wouldn't right the wrong. It would just be a mean and spiteful thing for me to do you.

There is nothing to suggest he is being sarcastic.

But this is a public environment which I am part of too. Perhaps his family should be aware of the filth they have spewed here...again...I refer you back to the above Voltaire quote.

My assessment is based on everything Geronimo has ever said here.

/me shrugs. OK, you've opted for mean and spiteful. I salute your brave and extremely meaningful attack on fascism. Fight them on the beaches!
