I dislike the thought that valid criticism of government-run grocery stores, rent control, and massive minimum wage hikes might be buried behind asinine racial/ethnic profiling. On a lark, I tried googling the dude's religious observance to see if he's "Muslim" the way Trump is "Episcopalian." I found that he wants to decriminalize prostitution, which I hadn't heard (and is actually a legit good idea for multiple reasons). It seems unlikely that this man is going to try and implement Sharia.

His mother was a Hindu, apparently--found that out Googling, too. Muslim fundamentalists tend to consider Hindus idolatrous and thus not eligible for dhimmi status. By their interpretation, she should have been made to say the shahada at knifepoint before little Zohran was even conceived. I don't see any indication that this man is not a sincere Muslim, but he wouldn't be the first sincere progressive Muslim, that's most definitely a thing these days.
