if the christian demcorats win as it seems and the afd getrs asecond place, would Germany, given its political tradition of electoral coalitions, form a gov of both chrstiand and social democrats and keep the afd out?

If the FDP and BSW don't get to the 5% they need to get into the bundestag (which seems likely), then the most likely outcome is a CDU/CSU + SPD coalition.

The only other alternative that doesn't include the AFD are CDU/CSU + Greens + Left, which is very unlikely.

Yup, CDU(+their "sister" CSU)/SPD coalition is the most likely gov as of now, after the end results are clear.

This seems to be the kind of transatlantic partnership Trump is aiming for after all.
