I was reading some recentrly diclassified material and it has become apparent theat the US was informed of the turkish invasion on cyprus and managed to have the dictatros of greece (which it supported) doing nothing (after they had done a coup d' etat)

when kissinger was asked he said I see no reason why the US would object to turkey captuing half of cyrpus and if there is a war the US will support Turkey over Greece because it is more important to us.

Isn't this like when the White House told saddam that Washington doesn't have much to say about Arab-&Arab conflicts? Just because Kissinger didn't move to kick Turkey out of NATO or something doesn't mean that the US bears the slightest blame for Turkey invading Cyprus.
