I skipped 5 and only started playing 6 about a year and a half ago, but I'm having fun with it despite some reservations. To warm your cold grognard hearts: they're more or less bringing back Civ2 caravans and We Love the King Day.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

There are 3 ages and in each you can transform your Civ into a new one based on your experiences at the last age and a progression tree for each civ (for example Classic Age: Rome -> Age of Exploration: Vikings -> Modern Age: Germans )
Leaders also seem to be able to gain experience (and abilities due to it)Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "He has fallen in battle and I must take him to the Einherjar in Valhalla"

A number of Civ youtubers got early access at Firaxis HQ and have posted videos detailing what they saw along with some "b-reel" game footage they were given to share.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

Old World - how is it?
Considered buying it earlier this year, but then didn't, and now over summer I don't play anyway. But might be something for fall/winter.
Do I have to nurse lotsa characters, like in P'dox' Crusader Kings I/II? I did never really like that, preferred EU which didn't have the character stuff.

I think you represent like a dynasty in Old World, but maybe not quite as zoomed in as CK?Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

I miss the ability to just buy enemy units and cities with diplomats if you had enough money in Civ 2. It was incredibly broken, but so fun to do.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”
