  • winter is canceled

I just wanted to make a trhead with the above mentioned title and right then the radio says we are having the warmest winter of the last 25 years.

Actually there is no winter. It's like a gentle spring. Of course at summer metal will melt.

Just went to a fish tavern and we ate and drunk in a very nice neighborhood.

    Good things.

I don't know but lately I keep appreceiating the goods of peace.

people just sitting around or walking, eating drinking enjohying the weather the great scenery etc

all of that is possible because of peace.

Yup, here in Kansas we had a storm dump 8-10" of snow right before we got hit by an arctic blast for 2-3 weeks and that was basically our winter... so far. And the blanket of snow was great insulation from the cold.

Similar story in Chicago -- autumn extended through Christmas, then some major snow and cold in January. Long gone now, with just a couple dustings of snow since then. It's virtually certain that this will be Chicago's warmest February in history. Thank you, El Niño.

It's still Fool's Spring, but I'm definitely enjoying the weather.

gotta be close to a record for February, didn't know El Nino was ongoing but the west-southwest sure needs it

unfortunately its not translating into much rain for us yet

and you know in countries like this with a lot of humidity 40 can be lethal

40 is excrutiating in greece but because (in souther greece) the weather is VERY dry it is hard but not life threatening unless you have a condition

in germany or belgium or other countries with lots of humidity it is devastating,

otoh on the greek isles with their traditional architecutre it's like paradise. the buildinmgs (the white ones you see in pics) are perfectly acclimated to the weather and htere is always a breeze. it is heaven.

i think about just go live there and f allyall.

athens also has one of the best climates of the world. hoever tons and tons of cement and it is ruined now

in the past there were nice litlle homes one nexrt to the other with their gardens... now it is a monster city

i lived in one of those white houses because a friend let me stay there with the ex.
you don't need air conditioning you don't need anything. human enginuity and a balanced and efficient coexistance with nature built over millenia of experience has created the pertfect houses for the environemnt in which they were built of course it is all desstroyed now by millions and millions of tourists etc

but there are thousands of greek isles. and not all have sunk under tourism

Winter has been cold here. Paiktis, how about watching something educational which you should be thankful for?

It's been warm in Toronto all winter. It felt like March in January and February. We had very little snow and none of it lasted very long.

I am not looking forward to this summer's wildfire smoke.

We bought my kids new sleds back in November, and they've not had an occasion to use them.

I read 190 mph straight line winds up in the Sierra Nevada Mtns somewhere around Tahoe. I don't know if its still the record but Mt Washington (~6300 ft) had 215 mph I think.

“The Sierra routinely will get winds 100-150 mph across the ridges during winter storms, and just we just saw a speed record of 199 mph confirmed February 2017 during an intense atmospheric river,” Johnson said.

They thought the wind hit 209 mph but now its a suspect reading
