Ironically, the burning rocket engine caused the aluminum to catch on fire. An exploding warhead may not have done that. Of course, anyone who has burned an aluminum drink can would realize that building a warship with that material would make it incredibly vulnerable to hot fires.

I think it is actually aluminum and ammonium perchlorate (so yes?) but not positive that is what is used on an exocet.
