Flew from California to Maryland, got off the plane and felt like I dove head first into the deep end of an excessively heated swimming pool, beads of sweat were forming before I hit the tarmac

why not, with my ex I was from the jakuzzi to the sauna 4 times a week

it is good. sauna, or roman baths or grteek baths or turksih baths or scandinavian saunas

          anyway it is good

          BUT the best?

on an island in eastern greece, a breath away from turkey, ancient baths from ancient greek times, from a volcano

then you had to divce to the freezing waters that were next to the hot spreings

I was the only greek amongt fat horny german girls

but let me tell you I remember it fondly

We did something similar when we were up in northern Sweden to (try and) see the lights. Straight from the sauna into the snow and back in. It was nice.

The lake had like 40cm of ice on top so we weren't about to chop a person-sized hole in it without proper tools.

beware of ice, a lake shouldn't be too rough but when I was in 3rd grade in Minnesota I fell thru an iced over Sauk River and while everything was really peaceful above ground the current under the water nearly took me under. I guess my only option then would be swimming to shore so I could plant my feet on the bank and push up thru the ice. Yikes, 9 lives...

those hot springs were in lesbos from ancioent trimes to byzantium to ottoman times to modern greece
the waters went trhugh an undergroudn vlocano and were enriched with various minerals that had healing properties

you plunged down to ancient marble that had been there for thousands of years

and you relaxed among the german thighs

really there was something int he hot temperature of the water that utterly relaxed you

and then you had to jolt yourself upo and exit the ancient temple/building and go net to the small beach where the waters were COLD

                      and plung in them

                      three times

but then you felt so alive it was amazing

It was -40 degrees, and had been well below freezing for the previous month and a half. The owner of the cabin we rented took us there in a snowmobile through the lake, since it was much flatter than going overland.

I saw a theory arguing Greek Oracles were women getting high on fumes from volcanic vents, the temples were basically built over or near fissures.

I got a bit of frostbite on my nose from the snowmobile ride.

But we were well equipped, they're wasn't any wind, and by the end of the week the temperature was a cozy -20.
