Wow, I never knew this. McDonald's had an original french fry recipe form 1955 to 1990, a second from 1990 to the 20 teens, then the current recipe. So three entirely different ways to make french fries.

In my entire life I have taken exactly one bite of anything from McDonalds. I promptly spat it out and threw the rest of the burger in the rubbish bin. I simply could not eat it. That was 40 years ago and there is no way in hell I will ever try anything from McDonalds again.

                  Were they ever French?

                  We call them "chips".

They are part of a meal called "fish and chips" and now I might go to the fish and chip shop and get a meal of "fish and chips".

We call the things chips like Pringles etc. Dunno re French Fries, these we call Pommes Frites. I seem to remember they were Belgian originally. Like from the French speaking part of Belgium > French Fries. But dunno really, maybe it's completely different.
