5000 years of what history now? Everything before maybe 1200 BC (or whenever the Bronze Age Collapse happened) is sketchy legends and everything between that and maybe 500 BC is scant. I have no idea who the hell was living around Athens 4KYA and I don't believe you do either. A quick googling says there were probably Indo-Europeans in the area around then so, uh, they might have spoken something similar, in the broad outlines, to Greek. But "English" from just a thousand years ago is incomprehensible so whatever language they spoke might have been just as close to Iranian. You want five thousand years of history, go to Egypt.
