Prices are set globally. So i would estimate diddly squat except maybe in logistics costs (if shipping to the US is cheaper than wherever it was going to go otherwise). And this assumes the diesel actually goes to the US and doesn't get openly traded.

Whoever was going to get that diesel (on paper or physical delivery) will have to look elsewhere, raising the global price ever so slightly, which in turn raises the prices in the US just enough on the rest of its supply sources to offset any lowering of prices resulting from the supply coming from Russia.

If you want prices to move, you have to increase global supply (or put in controls to distort the market), not just move the deck chairs around in the free market.

And yet this simple fact completely eludes the Trump regime. Well I suppose they can put all that diesel next to the Belarusian potash

That's a little facetious. Russia won from this transaction due to the utter ineptitude of Trump. And it all just smacks of a move to try and pin all the blame on Ukraine (if Russia can't supply, which they can't, then it's Ukraine's fault for, you know, trying to incapacitate a vile aggressor).

I take for granted that everything the Trump administration does on the world stage currently is just to cash in on the vast web of insider trading investments that Trump has in the works. Presumably he bet big on Russia as soon as it was clear he got a second term and now he's protecting those bets.
