Will Smith is a dumb *****. Seriously, his "" wife" cheats on him ****ing teenagers and he claims it is ok but he gets upset about a joke about a hair cut. Worse, we can see on the video that he is laughing until he looks at hos butt hurt woman who was crying over a joke and only then does he jump up. **** that fool.
This was totally a publicity stunt by the Academy, desperate to save their failing crown jewel, the increasingly irrelevant Oscars telecast.
People have spent over 24 hours obsessing over something that "happened" on their star-studded show. It's no coincidence.
The idea that this will hurt the career of Best Actor winner, the universally beloved Will Smith, is preposterous. Chris Rock is an aging comedian/actor who needs exposure and got it. He got to be politically incorrect, then becomes a nice guy by conveniently not pressing assault-and-battery charges. And Jada gets literally tens of millions more people exposed to her alopecia message. These three have known each other for literally decades.
There's a reason there was no indication that Chris Rock was off script. This whole show is scripted and vetted in advance. Rehearsals start Wednesday for the Sunday show. Presenters don't just wander in on Sunday and read cue cards. It was part of the production. The Academy is almost certainly culpable, but the trio of actors were clearly complicit. Everyone benefits, the Oscars become a must-watch event again, and don't we all just love not talking about Ukraine, pandemics, and politics!

Hearing a scripted joke that required me to "act" upset, take the stage with no security in place, and bltch-slap my buddy of 30 years?
I'd play my part.
I should also point out: My buddy knows it's coming. And then I go back to my seat, which gives the director time to cut the live feed before my scripted rant to "keep my wife's name out of your fvcking mouth."
I read once that in 3d movies you can't actually "fake" hitting someone (like they do in movies usually), so if they have a fisfight they do exchange real fisticuffs hitting eachother.
If it was real (and not just a publicity stunt),
IMHO it would be justified to have Smith not get invited to the Academy Awards anymore
(and also, to block any nominations of him for the awards)

Thats not why Smith blew his stack, he thought Rock was making fun of her medical issue with hair loss
I can see having that reaction but I'd hope I gave it some thought first and realized Rock might not know and thinks Jada is making a fashion statement.
I really cant see Rock making that joke if he knew it was medical
Yes, by comparing her to GI Jane. Her medical condition only compounds the insult (which Rock should have known about even if he didn't). Smith's reaction was appropriate either way.
As to the nature of Smith and his wife's relationship, that's private and irrelevant.
After slapping Chris Rock, Will SMith needed to be consoled by Denzel Washington, Tyler Perry and Bradley Cooper
So lets see:
One woman was insulted by a bad joke.
One man was slapped
But the person who needs to be consoled is the man who (without getting insulted himself) did the slapping
I would have understood if it had been Jada who neede to be consoled.
Maybe even Chris Rock, as victim of the slapping.
But Will Smith?
I think there is a fitting term that describes people like him: "Attention whore"
