While I do disagree with JM about Antifa stopping to act like Antifa regardless of the response... The fact that regular people exercising their CONSTITUTIONAL right are being caught in the middle and are being treated in the same fashion. But while Trump is playing to his base, he's turning off a lot of other people... maybe enough to keep him from a second term. It's really not smart politics on his part.
While his advisors are trying to tone him down while his ratings and poll numbers continue to take a nose dive... Trump has a hard time staying on their new script.

Antifa is not some term that you use just to describe your opponent.

For example, someone could be Anti-Vacc and Anti-Mask. Just because masks may no longer be needed next year, doesn't mean that they wouldn't continue to be anti-vaccine. The anti-mask movement and the anti-vaccine movement are not one and the same, I know pro-vaccine people who are anti-mask.

The same with antifa and anarchists. And we have seen that antifa disappears when fascists do (see Europe and, I believe, pre1980s US).

Well they don't think like common Democrats. They only talk like them so that they can use them. They prefer to protest against Trump because they know when "Trump's Troops" do something they can take pictures and put them on the internet. Then they tell stories.

That's what they do. They are fighting a propaganda war. So they hate Ted "Tear Gas" Wheeler just as much as Trump, but they prefer to go into conflict with Trump more.

But it does seem like Antifa is doing a better job of it. While the Mr. Tuff Guy works against trumpettes, it's not working against the swing voters, the ones Trump need to win the election.
His handling of the situation is just another cause for his drops in the polls...
