If the president is dissatisfied with the performance of civil servants in the executive branch, he can fire them.

Well you know he couldn't fire Sessions until the Mueller investigation was over (even though he tried). That's why they did the investigation. It's not as simple as just firing people, although I think he should fire more people.

Can he fire the whistleblower? No. He doesn't even know who they are.

He doesn't have a lot of power over them. They have their own power. That can't be denied.

All the states agreed to the electoral college. That's how one nation was created. Now you have to when states to win the election. If you can't do that too bad. That means you suck at winning. You have two choices. First, you can propose policies to won those states. Second, you can GTFO.

200 years ago, almost every other nation was a monarchy and no democracy, which made the USA a Novum.
Likewise the education level of he "normal people" 200 years ago was abysmal (with a high level of illiteracy) ... it has increased considerably since then ... and communication with other cities took weeks.

A lot has changed since then ... which is why countries, that changed to a democracy later, usually have a better and mnore democratic system ... because they were able to build upon the experiences and failures of other democracies.

Perhaps it would be time for the USA to think about a complete overrhaul of their antiquated democratic system and adjust it to the modern times.

This should go in another thread but what you are proposing is pure democracy. If you don't like the electoral college then you shouldn't like the Senate for the same reason. There is a good reason for the system we have. It's stable and it works.

So than you don't really care about having coequal branches of government.

The branches aren't coequal. The Constitution makes no mention of equality between the branches.

Instead it gives us three big clues to the relative relationships.

Congress has the power to remove a President or a judge. Presidents and judges can not remove any member of Congress.

Congress controls the money. Congress appropriates funds to the other branches of government. The other branches get whatever they are given and have no power over their own funding.

Finally the President is required to report to Congress on the State of the Union. Congress does not report to any other branch.

These three things, the power to fire someone, the control of money, and the direction in which information is reported, all show us that Congress is meant to be in charge, and the President is just supposed to do what he's told.

Kevin Riordan, a financing expert and real-estate professor at Montclair State University who reviewed the newly revealed tax records, told ProPublica that “it really feels like there’s two sets of books,” one for lenders and one for tax investigators.
“It’s hard to argue numbers,” Riordan said. “That’s black and white.”
