but also will require lots of money and manpower for its maintenance.

It will also mean that lots of land will have to be bought from land owners at the border (or they will have to be dispossessed)
and that the US citizen will lose access to the Rio grande.

Also it will cause lots of local ecological deasters,
because it interrupts momvement of wild animals and destroys habitats (for example of several butterfly species)


Therefore I would say that a wall encompassing the whole mexican border should be thought through very thoroughly (and not be purely based on a spurious idea of a rather uneducated person (i.e. Donald Trump)).
Especialyl considering the fact that the US-Mexican border isn'tg all open, but already has walls/fences, just not in the more harder to reach regions.
And in those regions, electronic surveillance (like via drones) may be a better idea than a wall

Nope, we disagree.
If, say, 99% of the illegal immigrants are those, who overstay their Visa or get smuggled through pöoints of entry ... and only 1% are those who try to get through the desert regions where you don't have a fence/wall yet, then building a wall seems to be the most inefficient use of the money for stopping illegal immigration.

btw. what do you want to do when you are done with building a wall to Mexico?
