Anybody seen the SW thing*? It's the last until the next trilogy. Which will be the last until they expand it into a trilogy of trilogies...
*) I didn't
Watched myself:
- Expanse 4
- more of the Mandalorian 1, not through yet (like what I saw mostly )
- Man in the High Castle 4 (had lots of probs and wasted potential IMO, but still overall a nice conclusion to the show )
I never went for Star Wars, not sure why. I've seen the first 3 and probably liked the 2nd one the most but they kind of blend together so I cant remember. I might have watched most of the one with the red evil guy. I actually like the Mel Brooks one more, Spaceballs. But who can compete with Mel Brooks?
Saw it with my daughter. It was your typical SW movie. We enjoyed it. But great cinema it is not. (but then none of them were)
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
RIP Tony Bogey & Baron O
I went into the newest Star Wars, of course
I liked it ... I also liked the death of Princess Leia ... they gave her a death that contributed to the cause of the Alliance
It wasn't a masterwork, but they surely had to improvise and deviate from their original script I guess, due to the real death of Carrie Fisher

I thought we had a Star Trek: Discovery thread. I can't find it.
So I'm really enjoying Season 3. Anyone else?
Especially with all the fun OS references/tie ins.
There's nothing wrong with the dream, my friend, the problem lies with the dreamer.
tIt might be interesting to hear about which movies or shows other members are watching or have recently watched. I will start. Currently I am watching Zulu Dawn (1979) staring Burt Lancaster. and Peter O'Toole It is a pretty good movie about a pivotal moment in South African history and indeed the interaction of European and African civilizations. It certainly shows the unequalness of the two societies and why and how one came to dominate. T
he Battle of Isandlwana is kind of like the battle of Caramarca in that it shows just how unequal technology and military & logistical abilities were between western societies and non-western societies. It is telling that even temporary setbacks due to incompetent leadership still lead to long term defeat just as it did for American Natives, New Zealand Natives, or even Australian Natives. They were truly fighting an up hill battle against all odds.
I am only halfway through it but my initial reaction is it is not as good as the original 1964 movie Zulu which depicted the battle of Rorke's Drift. The cinematography is good for the time period though.
What??? Are you telling me spearman defeats tank is totally unrealistic???
“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”
