I was super into Civ/Civ2 and came to The Ultimate Civ2 site to download scenarios. I also became very involved in the first owo forums for SMAC when I went to college in 1998. From there I came to Apolyton with the List.

To be honest, playing SMAC/Civ3 wasn't as big a part of my life as Civ2/Civ, I never got everything out of Civ4/Civ5/SMAX that I should have and I don't own Civ6 yet.

I was active on both the Greek Civ2 Site and The Ultimate Civ2 Site
So when they merged, I was thrilled

I learned a lot of strategy and game play back then, but then it evolved into the prime source for MP games.
And it was far superior to that "other" site back then... If it wasn't for the screwed up Up Loading and terrible Index, it might have stayed number one

        HAPPY BIRTHDAY APOLYTON

        Keep on Civin'

Happy Birthday Apolyton ... just another 20 (or 40 or 60 or 80) years and you will (most probably) have outlived me

I had/have accounts on both, Apolyton as well as CFC ...
during the golden age of Civ, when Apolyton still was centered on Civ, I always found Apolyton to be a lttle bit more elitist than CFC (which actually made me go toCFC more, until I switched to visiting Apolyon more).
I actually have to admit that CFC managed to stay true to its roots (and have a large Civ centered community), whereas in Apolyton it is more the Offtopic that still sees regular activity

Nah, don't do that - he is actually a nice guy that allowed a mere noob as me to create this thread

What made you think that the comment would necessarily be bad?

Once MarkG left it was over. We are just floating by at the mercy of Aeson. Who I appreciate greatly, BTW, but facts are facts.

They can't just shut down CFC, they are a money-maker with thousands of people posting every day. See the difference?

Alas, I probably still don't have time to play this year. Maybe though–I should hear back about some projects in the next week or so.
