Well, Im looking at it and, while squinting and holding the chart at varying angles it may be argued that there was a period prior to 1986 where there may have been an inverse correlation between corporate profits and wages at times, one doesn't have to even bother doing a regression analysis to note the long-term trends here.

I'd like to see some of the numbers behind it. The large increase of low paying service jobs could impact that greatly. But yeah the overall look is quite depressing. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

May have to do with the rising income inequality between the poor and the rich in the USA ... during the 80s it was roughly equivalent to european countries, but since then the income inequality in the USA has skyrocketed

So, for ****s and giggles, I went ahead and drew trend lines for every ten year period marked on the above chart. No math, no formulas, no analysis, I merely drew a like-colored line from the beginning of the ten-year period to the end. And I did this on my phone, with my finger, so the results are neither pretty, nor 100% accurate. But it's clear enough what happens and, while it doesn't disprove Kid's assertion (that rising corporate profits are a leading indicator to rising wages) to a degree which I would feel comfortable defending this work for a undergraduate review board, for the purposes of a message board discussion, I'm OK with it.
