If you can stomach seeds and nuts you can get all the fats you need that way, and they tend to be the healthy polyunsaturated fats.

I haven't had heartburn since cutting out almost all cheese from my vegetarian (going towards vegan) diet. Still using up some grated parmesan we had on salads from time to time, very little at a time. That will be the last of it. The only soy milk I have found here so far has a small amount (2%) of cows milk in it. I've cut out the eggs. So almost there.

      My digestive system is happy.

        Fasting seems radical.
I drank beer. I like beer. I still like beer. ... Do you like beer Senator?

Like Lorizael said, the Jesus fast is almost sure to cure diabetes.

Most religious based fasting is for 1 day per week. I had to fast for 2 days recently (colonoscopy) and lost 8.5 pounds as a result of that

so cheese does (or did?) aggravate your condition? did you try non-fat or low fat? I dont even know if they make it, but I do love eggs.

I think it's dairy in general. I had cheese on a vegetarian pizza for lunch on Friday, because that's about all there was without meat. I should have passed still. I didn't feel good immediately after the meal. Felt sluggish, and itchy/oily on my face and scalp. It's something I've noticed when having more than trivial amounts of cheese, or lots of milk. I probably have an allergy to dairy.

The process of cheese making removes lactose, for the most part.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

The mold eats much of the lactose. The older the cheese the less lactose. Thus, a fresh mozzarella will have much more than an aged Parmesan.

                            huh, live and learn

I'm not really lactose intolerant yet but I did break down and buy some lactose free milk for the animals

My parents-in-law switched to lactose-free milk recently (they're ~60-65) and they find it much better than regular.

I tried it and it wasn't bad. But it was a touch sweeter. Just take the pills (cheap and over the counter) and don't worry about it.
