I was thinking dinner or a movie. It's hard to be too early for that. But yeah a little early for THAT.

But what date number do you consider the threshold for THAT?

Of course that could be the topic of a whole another thread.

I went with friending her on Facebook for the time being. I don't really have any idea how to ask women out on dates, but I'll probably figure something out.

Chatting with her on Facebook sounds like a good idea ... more opportunities to talk to her and perhaps also a less anxious situaion (than taking to her in person)

Perhaps you can also send her a link to this thread and ask for her advice ... she is the best person to give you an advice on the situation
        (joking ... don't do this )

After suitable observations and investigations I, braindead, have made a discovery that could change a lunchroom for an entire lunchtime.

I have discovered that girls eat lunch. Furthermore, I have discovered that there are places which serve lunch.

I have formulated an hypothesis. This hypothesis is that it is theoretically possible to cause a girl to go to a lunch place and consume a lunch.

This hypothesis needs to be tested for validity, according to the scientific method anyway.

I have gone on to develop hypothesis testing.

This(scientific) experiment consists of saying to her " Let's get some lunch".

An alternative experiment is to say to her "Come, I'm taking you to lunch".

Plan was to ask her to lunch today. But as soon as she came in she set her stuff down, left to get some food, came back, then talked to me while eating lunch. That hasn't been her usual routine, and I react very slowly to surprises in social situations.

Test my scientific hypothesis tomorrow, as soon as she arrives and before she wanders off to get food.

A hypothesis is either true or false. Testing is the only way to find out.

Well, at least Lori was able to confirm your observation, that girls eat lunch.
So, asking her out to lunch sounds like a possibility ... would have been difficult if instead of eating she would, for example, use a Borg-Alcove to resupply her energy stores

Indeed. Facts are being gathered. (Facts, not alternative facts).

We may reasonably infer that there is a lunch place nearby, from the observation that she went away and returned with food.

A hypothesis is a coherent explanation of all known facts.

I think these facts can be weaved together to hypothosise that this young lady might accompany Lori to lunch.

All that remains is hypothesis testing.

                    Umh?

What is the difference between "deductive reasoning" and "inductive reasoning"?

Deductive reasoning produces conclusions that must be true if the premises are true. Inductive reasoning has no such requirement, and famously has no firm logical foundation according to a brilliant analysis by David Hume, and yet seems to work pretty well anyway.

                        Thanks.

I think I get it. Inductive reasoning uses observations to draw a general conclusion.

Deductive reasoning uses general principles to draw a particular conclusion.

Inductive reasoning is when you figure out which of the balls are metal by using a magnet. Deductive reasoning is what banks use to figure out how many fees to charge you.

So deductive reasoning really means "gouge the customers"?

Would be way more into her if she were Borg. You might even say resistance would be futile...

You have a very vivid imagination. Do you often find yourself inventing fantasy stories? Does it serve some sort of psychological purpose because the real world scares you so that you feel compelled to invent delusions?

I am sure you would make a fascinating case study.
