that was a surprise. in purely tactical terms it looks like a clever move, and it will both upstage eagle today, and then focus all the attention on labour's contest while a quiet coronation takes place. on the other hand, it looks like a massive stitch up and will doubtless infuriate a fair number of the tory membership and all those who voted leave.
