Especially when it has to do with the question of whether or not there is any meaning to your own life. I think the meaning to Aeson's life might be for ****s and giggles.

God: What is your favorite food?
          Kidicious: Hamburgers
God: If you change your favorite food to "asparagus" then I will reward you, otherwise I will punish you
Kidicious: Okay, my favorite food is asparagus

Obviously you'd be lying to God if you "chose to believe" that your favorite food is asparagus, because you can't spontaneously modify your taste buds like that. Likewise if you "chose to believe" something in a feeble attempt to trick God then he's not going to be happy with you. (Incidentally, this is why Pascal's Wager is horse****)
First of all you already said that questions that don't have definite answers are more interesting. Why then would God create a universe and create man to be able to answer every question with ful understanding void of uncertainty? Do you think it would be better if we lived in a boring world?

Second, it's totally possible to choose to have a different favorite food. Mine used to be pizza, but it's very unhealthy. So I chose to prefer healthier foods and now I do. Healthier foods taste better than pizza to me now. God didn't tell me not to like pizza as much anymore, but it's the same thing.

All I'm trying to do is to get you to admit to the uncertainty in the hopes that you'll be less of a douchebag when you realize that you don't know The Truth after all

Do you mean objective uncertainty or subjective uncertainty? I think you mean subjective uncertainty and you are trying to break me down like a pump breaks down a whore.

I am not saying that this is the case, but he could comprehend as much of The Truth as he is currently capable of comprehending.

Welp, it didn't take you long to disabuse me of that notion

I'm not so much concerned with how much of The Truth he comprehends, I'm primarily concerned with the obnoxious and often damaging level of certainty he has for his flawed version of The Truth

If somebody believes that I'm going to hell for not believing their version of The Truth then, meh, what can you do. If that same person starts protesting at funerals with "God Hates [whoever]" banners because of the degree of certainty that they have for their version of The Truth then I despair, and the only thing that separates Kidicious from the Westboro freaks is a lack of courage.

Huh, I don't think it has anything to do with level of certainty.

I think I have at least the level of certainty that the Westboro freaks have, about some things (probably generally not the same things).

It doesn't cause me to go protest funerals.

It is because they are Wrong, it is not because they are Sure.

Do you believe that I, as an atheist, am going to hell? I'm pretty sure I recall you at one point saying that something like 90% of humanity is going to hell, apologies if I'm incorrect and it was somebody else who said this. Presumably I'm in that 90%, yet you aren't an obnoxious dick about my upcoming damnation. Why? I always figured it was a lack of certainty (or if you prefer, a degree of humility) on your part, i.e. "I'm pretty sure that loinburger is damned, but I'd feel like kind of an ******* if I told him this and it turned out I was wrong."

There you go again, just avoiding my question. I only asked so that I could give you a proper response, but I guess you would rather argue with a Westboro Baptist. Too bad for you that there aren't any here. You'll just have to pretend instead of having fruitful dialogue with people.

I'm making a belated new years' resolution that this was my last attempt at having a fruitful dialogue with you - from here on out it's nothing but dickgirls all the way down.
