Probably supplimenting their welfare handouts via crime and drug dealing.
are there no unskilled or semi-skilled jobs in germany?

can immigrants not access education or training?

If I was a German tax payer I would be royally pissed off at what Merkel has done.
Don't you feel ashamed when you're on the same side of the argument as Kid?

      • I am on the side of hard facts. Kid is not someone I am overly concerned about one way or another. The hard truth is most of these people are unemployable, will end up on public benefits, and are not genuine refugees but simple economic migrants seeking the biggest welfare payout. The reason the vast majority of them are young males who left their families behind is because they know their families are perfectly safe right where they are. This is why most of them need to be sent back because they truly are economic migrants and not refugees.

People have to be interested in education and willing to do the work to complete it. Look up what the high school drop out rate is even for 3rd or 4th generation Turkish people in Germany. They don't see the point to even finishing high school much less going to college because everyone they know is on welfare and they think that is a fine life.

It is sad but a wide spread belief.

          • why would what 3rd or 4th generation descendants of turkish immigrants (supposedly) do tell us anything about what new arrivals from different places will do?

            • Two teenage boys and a man have been taken into custody while another is on the run after two girls were attacked in a village on New Year's Eve

The number of rapes and sexual assaults on that night is now up over 200. While most of the suspects are recent migrants seeking asylum a disturbingly high percentage of them were muslims who had been in Germany for a long time. This is even worse implying that their cultural attitude do not change even after spending years in Europe.

You guys are importing a very serious and long lasting problem.

I hope you are right but suspect you are wrong. I don't think the opinions or outcomes will be very different. Here is hoping I am wrong.

historically, some groups have performed well in western countries, while others have done less well. countries should look at what has worked when it comes to integration and seek to implement those policies; but of course immigrants too have a responsibility to adapt to their new home and to respect the local culture and norms.

                          1. There aren't jobs for more people. There is already unemployment in Germany for the unskilled.

                          2. Education doesn't equal jobs.

It is hard to integrate people who do not want to be intigrated. The best way to make them is to force them to get a job and function in the regular economy. That would mean changing a whole lot of labor jobs so that unskilled labor becomes worth hiring and it would also mean ending the welfare handouts so they have no choice but to work.

                              I don't see that happening.

Cologne's police chief has apparently resigning if Twitter is to be believed. Any guesses if that is as far as it goes or should we look for more resignations?
