              • There's a lot of great Sly Stone video popping up on social media right now. Highly recommended.

Sly was an amazing artist. Never got to see him live, which I always regretted. May he RIP.

I saw them more than once, including Mike Love's line-up a couple of months ago. Great music.
                    RIP Brian.

                • The last concert that I saw before going into service was CSN&Y and Beach Boys.

                  • RIP Brian Wilson. I had the opportunity to meet him a couple times, mid-90s, post-Landry.
He was a kind-hearted but very damaged individual. He seemed to find it very hard to look anyone in the eye; he lived in his own world. Very quiet. A close friend of mine was his tour manager for about a year, mostly trying to make sure no one was ripping him off or abusing him. He described Brian as innocent, trusting, and lost.
But on stage, he would light up. Because music is magic, my friends.

                    • RIP singer, guitarist, and songwriter Mick Ralphs, 81. Founding member of Mott the Hoople and Bad Company. A big part of my teens and 20s - college in the 70s, baby!
Sad to see another one gone, but hey, it's only gonna happen more as I swing through my septuagenarian years...

Anyway, RIP to Mick, an underappreciated rock star.

                      • Bobby Sherman, 81.

At age 4, I had access to a portable phonograph (the kind that looked like a small suitcase with a power cord, this was 1971), and my mother showed me how to properly handle and play records on it. Only record I clearly remember playing, and I played it all the time, was a Bobby Sherman Greatest Hits album from that year; I only know this because the two songs I remember best from it were Seattle, and Easy Come, Easy Go. I probably still have it somewhere, and I probably scratched it all to hell.

Thanks, Bobby, for that childhood memory.
