Come on, it's a widely known information... So, without USA first invading Iraq, and then dismissing these commanders, ISIS wouldn't have been winning as much, if at all (you need a momentum and victories to start recruiting cannon fodder). It's easy to brainwash some cannon fodder into ISIS. Educated high-ranked military commanders with a live combat experience (even if they lost a war) are completely different beast.Knowledge is Power

I recall reading some years ago that former Iraqi army soldiers were joining various militia, and any one who could give them a job. They were simply tossed out of the army without pensions. Many became poor and needed to live.
Later, ISIS came along. ISIS needed troops. ISIS had money. Plenty of unemployed soldiers in need of a job.

If we would have given those monsters authority they would have abused it. The only way we could maintain peace in Iraq was with a troop surge.
