Extremely lucky. If I was born in the future or past I would have very different values.

I am going to need to change it, because my values are changing and my wife doesn't want to keep living in Chile.

        Extremely Lucky:

I am the leading or the second to the leading Neutrino Physicist in Chile (and they probably want to go into Neutrino Physics in the future)
        I have a wife who I love
I and my family are reasonably healthy
        I have a daughter who I love
I make a very high salary for Chile (and a moderate salary for the US; low for my classmates/peers in the US though)
I have a large travel budget and am likely to have a large research budget in the future
I have low minimum requirements to maintain my position (teaching 1 easy class a year (will go up to 2), 6 months in Chile a year, approximately 20 hours of work per week , learn Spanish (haven't done this yet)) enabling me to follow my inspiration (I spend a lot more time than that working on following my inspiration, that is my estimated minimum time)
        I am doing physics

On the other hand, why should I get so much out of life when my family members (wife's and mine) are lacking opportunity due to their financial situations? Which I could help with if I had a higher salary. And my wife wants to start her career and not in Chile, so does not intend to spend even 3 months in Chile in the future.

I am extremely lucky that I wasn't born in the past where I'd have less access to drugs and they wouldn't have much use for a computer programmer (there might be some other skilled profession I'd be good at, but odds are I'd be born as a serf and it's not likely that somebody would say "hey that serf is good at math let's have him do something mathy" or whatever), and I'm extremely lucky that I wasn't born in the future where I might have better access to drugs but would probably wind up being eaten by radioactive mutants.

No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

No luck involved in where I am. I started from the bottom and worked day and night to get my whole team here .

I wouldn't be here if not for Hitler. So I'm lucky. But also, lots of people had to die for me to be here.

                              I'm okay with that
